The importance of wellness
Why is wellness so important?
We live in a day and age where wellness is starting to be more of an importance to us, especially us professionals who spend more time grafting, more time stressing, creating, commuting, meeting and less time sleeping, relaxing, and more so less time on our actual well-being. We are starting to realise that we need to put ‘self’ first, that ‘self love’, self-care and well-being is starting to be a little more important than that extra hour needed in front of the desktop. What is actually needed, is time out – time to heal.
Now for most this is the hardest part, and you wouldn’t think it’s this hard, but weirdly it is – finding 10 minutes just for yourself, almost seems like a daunting task. Now we need to think about 30 min or 50 min? Where in the world are we going to find this time? But it’s already there, the time is there. We just keep telling ourselves that we don’t have it. And why? Because of that deadline, because we need to meet Jane for lunch, because we promised Greg dinner, because we need to start that document? All of these things aren’t the beginning and the end of us. All of these things don’t determine our well-being. All of these things (and people included), don’t put us first. We put us first. Yet, we don’t, we put us last.
And so a shift is happening in the world, a conscious shift where people are starting to think differently. Where ‘self love’ is being promoted everywhere, from instagram posts, to facebook videos, to tweets to blogs. People are speaking out about their burn out, they are speaking out how tired they are of the same old routine which brings them nothing but monetary value, they are speaking out about their anxiety and depression, they are speaking out about the importance of healing.
Now healing can be anything. It can be a 15 min yoga session to move the muscles in your body and make you feel alive, it can be 10 minute meditation to silence your mind and listen to yourself, it can be a 30 min massage where you allow someone else to release the tension you hold so tensely in your body or it can be a 1 hour dance session where you move your body intuitively and become one with the sounds that you are hearing. Healing comes in all forms. Therapy sessions, life coaching, homeopathy, esoteric healing, massages, yoga, retreats and so the list goes on.
If you open your instagram, besides all the celebrities and insta celebs that you follow, family and friends, you will have noticed streams of sponsored ads promoting apps, pages, and online platforms for everything that I have just mentions above. We are beginning to consciously spread love, we are beginning to consciously spread the healing, we are evolving and realising that if we do not take care of ourselves, no one else will. Burn out, stress, anxiety and high blood pressure isn’t going to allow any of us a long life on this earth. It’s also not the way any of us want to leave this earth. Imagine your eulogy saying: “She arrived on this earth and worked herself to death!” Yuck!!
But… Some people are happy with that, and that’s fine. I, however, as much as I am a hard worker, want to connect more with myself. I believe in the healing process. Most of us don’t realise how much we have pent up inside – emotions that date back to being a child. Things that we have forgotten about yet don’t realise are a trigger to half the things that happen around us. These emotions that have never been dealt with – because ‘that was child me, adult me knows better’ – are still simmering inside of you. They have made you who you are all because of that one thing that happened when you were 5 years old and you don’t even realise it. But that’s just an example, some people wouldn’t even dare step back into the emotions of 5 year old them. All I am saying is that, it is important to listen to self, and to give self what it needs. And self ALWAYS needs tender loving care.
I’ve spoken loads about spirituality and my spirituality – what it’s done for me and continues to do for me. How it’s allowed me to go within myself to figure myself out and to connect even more to source with love. Because of this immense journey I am on, I am seeking. I am seeking means and ways to heal and in doing that I am finding some wonderful ways, meeting wonderful people, realizing that I am into certain things and not so much other things. I’ve done ecstatic dancing, I’ve gone to a movement class where I shook the emotions held inside my body in a way I didn’t even realise you could release that I burst into tears. I’ve had reiki where I’ve felt the energies in my body moving, where I’ve felt my chakra’s realigning. I try get a massage as often as I can as I know that I hold so much tension in my shoulders – always. Never mind the rest of my body.
I’ve started going to Mystics Class – where I am learning to tune in to my intuition – to listen – to heal not only myself but others too. I’m looking into reiki courses, I want to tune into the shamanic goddess within. I now own a sound bowl and I’m learning the beauty of sound healing. I do new moon and full moon rituals to shed the old and make way for the new. I’m constantly learning and in learning I’m healing and in healing I’m loving and in loving I’m connecting and in connecting I know that my true life path is going to present itself to me sooner. Not to say I am not on my path, I am… But I know I am here to do more than just be ‘Sade, the TV Personality / Public Figure’. This to some of you is esoteric mumbo jumbo (dejá-vu – because I’ve said these exact words before in one of my posts) – but to the rest of you this resonates, and that’s all that matters.
So this brings me to my next venture with my girlfriend, Chane. We have founded a new online platform called ‘Healers & Seekers’ – a marketplace created with the hopes of bringing light beings together. A social media service that allows its users to exchange items and services and communicate with each other. Anyone from therapists, to nutritionists, to reiki masters, to intuitives, to massage therapists, to fitness instructors, to yogi’s, all the way to those who sell merchandise like crystals and aromatherapy oils. If you’re all about healing, self love and self care – then this site is for you. Both as a healer and a seeker.
Our site is a place for ‘healers’ to list their services, connecting them with seekers in a much more easier platform whilst we work to push their services online therefore boosting business and creating more ‘self love’ and ‘healing’ in this world.
Healing work includes healing all aspects of our consciousness. We are firm believers that people heal themselves, and that healers gently facilitate the process with their wisdom, therapy, and presence.
Now we may be based in the U.K – but healers & seekers is based on the world wide web – meaning it’s worldwide for anyone to join and for anyone to be a part of. Listings are currently in Pounds, and we’ll possibly change this to the more universal currency – the US Dollar. But all payments are facilitated via PayPal, meaning no matter where you are in the world, you can list your services for your city with hopes of connecting with others in your city or those even just visiting your city. We as the hosts take the tiniest fee for transactions that happen on the site – this is purely to keep the site running and for us to push your services on social media. Think airbnb but for self love.
Do check us out, and do spread the word:
